LaURA LEwIS, OWNER AND ARTISTIC DIRECTOR, DANCE UNLIMITED

Laura Lewis is the Owner and Artistic Director of Dance Unlimited in Augusta, Maine. The dance studio has been voted the best dance studio in Augusta every year since it opened in 2001.

Lewis, a Maine native, originally opened the studio with the vision to use her knowledge, talent, and dance experience to provide the best dance studio and education for children and families in Central Maine. Today, more than 23 years later, she maintains the same passion and commitment to providing an incredible dance experience for each and every student.

During the pandemic, Laura Lewis and her team at Dance Unlimited showed their passion for their work by implementing new ways to teach dance remotely, while also monitoring the health and well-being of their students through interactive teaching and engagement. From social distance dancing in the parking lot to outdoor stage performances, the show had to go on.

Lewis has been dancing since she was 3 years old. She purchased her first dance studio in Florida when she was only 15 years old. She has had extensive dance training throughout the country and participates in continuing educational opportunities regularly. Laura graduated from Florida State University, where she studied Dance, English, and Education. She is proud to be an entrepreneur and business owner in the fine arts industry.

The staff at Dance Unlimited has 133 combined years of teaching experience, which sets the studio apart from others by delivering a one-of-a-kind dance education and experience. Dancers from Dance Unlimited have performed at the Boston Celtics, Harlem Globetrotters, and Disney World.

Classes at Dance Unlimited range from Twinkle Toes to adult classes. Different class offerings include ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, hip-hop, modern, and acro. Dance Unlimited also offers a wide range of programs, events, and dance camps to help introduce and develop the individual dancer’s skills and create a strong sense of belonging.
